...And the Award for
Integrity in Journalism goes to... Fox News.
Honestly. At least Fox
make absolutely no attempt to hide their political bias. This was satirised
memorably on The Simpsons when Fox
was shown reporting news stories like “Voting Democrat gives you cancer”. Fox
News were about to sue over this until it was pointed out that The Simpsons appeared on... er... Fox!
This is at least
preferable to the hypocrisy of the British Broadcasting Corporation (BBC),
which is proclaimed throughout the world – not least by the BBC – as the
standard for professional journalism and objectivity.
In fact, the BBC has
long had a distinct political bias of its own. This is recognised even in the
BBC’s own internal reports.
That in itself makes
the BBC no worse than Fox – except Fox is not funded by the taxpayer, and Fox
does not pretend to be the world standard for objective truth.
Entrepreneurs are more
reliant than most on the media for accurate information, especially business
information – after all, few can afford their own intelligence organisations!
Perhaps it is too much in this day and age to expect unbiased information, but
we do have a right to expect the media to be up front about their bias.
This blog is no
exception –openly biased in favour of the entrepreneur, and proud of it!
