So Silvio’s back in
charge of Italy.
Whether or not Mr
Berlusconi’s victory in the Italian elections is a good thing for Italy is
entirely a matter for Italian voters.
However, purely from an
outsider’s point of view, it is good to see a real individual, bad jokes and
all, back among the dull apparatchiks who form Europe’s political leadership.
Also, from an
entrepreneur’s perspective, it is good to see at least one real entrepreneur
among the drones who have made a living out of nothing but politics.
Some say he is a
crook. Yet, if he is, it is because no one could prosper in the corrupt
environment of post-War Italy without ignoring some rules.
Silvio did not create
that environment. Perhaps he is the man to change it.
