I won’t be watching the new
series of The Apprentice. Clearly the focus is on ratings rather than producing
a meaningful business show.
The candidates are supposed to
be the Cream of the Crop, when in reality, they’re more like a freak show. A
cursory glance tells you the majority are far, far from the ‘brightest business
brains in Britain’. Instead they appear chosen for their lack of social skills
so we can all jeer once they start fighting.
Does the best candidate win? No,
not necessarily. So far, at least, the show has broadly managed to ensure the
best 3 or 4 are left in the running at the end.
As for the candidates thrown out
early on, they’re made to look idiots (perhaps some of them are) and no savvy
employer would want to touch them with a barge pole.
Instead they start up rather
unconvincing consultancies.
My advice: don’t enter it, don’t
watch it.
