Notes

Listener Miles Green asked us “What do you do when key employees leave the company and set up on their own in competition? How can you prevent it and how do you mitigate matters?”

Sometimes even the best treated and most indulged employees betray us. Perhaps motivated out of greed and a misguided sense of their ‘rights’, they leave and try to compete. Often this comes as a shock, and they soon realise running a business is not the piece of cake they imagined.

But, this can be little consolation. It is far better the problem never arises and if it does, to have some mitigation strategies in place. Regular Mind Your Own Business Podcast contributors Guy Kingston and John Richards discuss some preventative measures along with some thoughts on what to do if you are a victim of this ungrateful treachery.

Also, we follow up on our previous show’s discussion on the pitfalls of various content management systems such as Joomla, with input from listeners Mark Lawrence, Rob Campbell and Neil Gibson.
